Students and Accommodation

This is the time of the year when university students will be getting ready to resume school. Apart from the returning stu dents, new intakes will also be resuming. One of the most important factors in student life is a place to live; accommodation. It is so important that some spend months looking for where to live. A colleague from one of my art classes, traveled from her country months before resumption to ‘research'where she would like to live. The choice of where to live depends on the students involved. The most important factor in accommodation hunting is finance. When you love a place and you cannot afford it then the solution is to find a place that suits ones purse.

There are also instances where students arrange accommodation ahead from their home countries, but have to look for where to stay especially if they travel into town before their accommodation contract starts. This is the exact situation my flat mate found himself when he arrived in the United Kingdom a few days before the beginning of the contract he signed with school accommodation office. He was not the only one this happened to. Since it was just for a few days, many students decided to live in a hotel till their contract begins. My flat mate settled for a student hostel instead which was far cheaper than what he would have paid in any hotel. I see this as a wise way of saving money. So instead of spending on expensive hotel accommodation, a student in a new environment can lodge in various cheap hostels available. The internet provides the best place to locate such hostels.
